The best thing about living in the Washington, DC area is the access to officials who have a substantial influence on public policy. Additionally, this area is compromised of many diverse backgrounds/cultures that make learning and having fun a very positive experience! All of the museums, monuments, and shops provide opportunities for educational advancement and a great way to have fun! |

| What's best about the School of Public Health and Health Services at GW?
My colleagues and their mirrored passion for social change and public health advocacy add tremendously to my experience here. I've met professors and had the privilege to learn from leaders in the field. Grand Rounds is so wonderful, and since I work in the school, I have excellent tuition benefits, which allow me to enjoy this time here at GWU that much more. |
| What's best about living in the Washington, DC Area?
The best about living in Washington DC is the overwhelming and stimulating number of events, festivals, rallies, celebrations and protests that are accessible and new. Each week I try and attend one new event and gain exposure to become more of a part of communities and build partnerships in the community. My family and dear friends live a short commute away, and now my new connections are right here in the DC/MD area. |
My message to applicants:
Living in DC is perhaps one of the TOP reasons to come to GWU, in the midst of policy making, visible advocacy, social marketing for public health, community health centers and many non-profit organizations. Then, combined with the other students who make their homes here to attend SPHHS and the faculty (who know your name!) who are currently doing amazing research and development in the field, there is so much reason to apply and enroll in the amazing programs. |
