| What was best about the students at SPHHS when I was a student?
The students were what really made the experience great. Since most of us were in the same boat (new to town), so it was easy to talk and open up to each other. We did everything in groups--- we had a network of friends that did everything-studying, going out, playing flag football on the mall, holiday parties, weekend trips-you name it. The diversity was great and enabled us to build on each other's experiences and learn about other cultures.
In fact, a lot of us are still in contact - which reinforced the alumni network that spans from the east coast to the west coast and everywhere in between. Now, instead of talking about projects-we talk about job leads, weddings & who's having kids. One thing's for sure, students at GW become friends for life-- |
| What was best about living in the Washington, DC area?
Everything. The energy, the places to see, the places to eat, the places to shop. Finding entertainment on a student's budget was great-there is always something going on. In terms of health care-there's not a better place in the nation. D.C. has every health resource & agency you could hope for--- with tons of opportunities for internships, jobs and/or experience in every sector. |
My message to applicants:
I encourage you to choose a master's program that has a solid curriculum that will establish your foundation, an established alumni network, opportunities for you to get healthcare experience in the nearby community and that allows you to take advantage of opportunities that you may not get again. This is what GW did for me. For all that is has to offer, consider GW for you-visit the campus, talk to current students, professors & alumni and see if there's a fit for you. It's your money and your future, so make it worth your while--
