Additional Faculty: Alan Greenberg, MD, MPH, Dante Verme, PhD, MS
The GWU/DOH Partnership with the HIV/AIDS Administration (HAA) includes providing technical and epidemiologic assistance to HAA, conducting the heterosexual cycle of the National HIV Behavioral Surveillance (NHBS) and has recently expanded to include retrospective monitoring and evaluation of the District's city-wide testing campaign and cleaning and epidemiologic evaluation of the DC Viral Hepatitis surveillance database. As part of the technical assistance provided through the Partnership, a doctoral-level epidemiologist was recruited and hired to provide epidemiological expertise to the Surveillance Bureau at 80% effort. Biostatisticians provide programming assistance and expertise and 5-6 graduate Research Assistants work at HAA through the Partnership providing data entry and analytical support. During the first phase of the Partnership a comprehensive evaluation of the HAA Bureau of Surveillance and Epidemiology was conducted and a 50-page report issued which provided a review of the findings and recommendations for improvements to the Bureau.
