Small Area Analysis of Premature Mortality in the U.S.

Brief Project Description

Sponsor: National Minority Health Month Foundation, Inc.
Principal Investigator: Sean D. Cleary, PhD, MPH
The purpose of this research is to provide technical expertise in data analysis, data preparation, GIS and mapping of premature deaths, study design and manuscript preparation for studies focusing on the leading causes of deaths in the United States. Descriptive epidemiologic methods will be used to analyze existing census and vital statistics data to determine age-adjusted rates of premature deaths and the leading causes of death in both predominately minority and non-minority zip codes. This information will be used as part of current and future research projects that utilize small area analysis to better understand U.S. health disparities.
