NIH Challenge Grants
As part of the Recovery Act, NIH has designated at least $200 million in FYs 2009 - 2010 for a new initiative called the NIH Challenge Grants in Health and Science Research, to fund 200 or more grants. This new program will support research on Challenge Topics which address specific scientific and health research challenges in biomedical and behavioral research that will benefit from significant 2-year jumpstart funds. Notice, these grants are for 2-years, up to $500,000 per year awards, due April 27, 2009.

- Biomarker Discovery and Validation
- Clinical Research
- Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER)
- Enabling Technologies
- Enhancing Clinical Trials
- Genomics
- Health Disparities
- Information Technology for Processing Health Care Data
- Regenerative Medicine
- Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Education (STEM)
- Smart Biomaterials – Theranostics
- Stem Cells
- Translational Science
