Maria Cecilia Zea, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the George Washington University, Washington DC. She joined the Clinical Program at the Department of Psychology in 1990. She received a Ph.D. in Clinical/Community Psychology at the University of Maryland in College Park. Dr. Zea has published extensively in the area of ethnic minority psychology and more recently HIV/AIDS among Latino men who have sex with men (MSM). She is the Principal Investigator of two NIH-funded R01 projects to study Disclosure of HIV Status among Latino gay men and Contextual Factors of Sexual Risk among Latino MSM. She serves as a reviewer on NIH study sections and currently chairs the Social Behavioral and Prevention Research Study Section of the University of California University-Wide AIDS Research Program. Dr. Zea is a Fellow of Divisions 44 and 45 of the American Psychological Association and is an Associate Editor of Cultural Diversity and Ethnic Minority Psychology and a Consulting Editor for the Journal of Clinical and Consulting Psychology. She has served as ad hoc reviewer for numerous journals. Dr. Zea chairs the Faculty Senate Research Committee at GWU. Dr. Zea received the Award for Excellence in Mentorship from the National Hispanic Science Network for her mentorship of more than a dozen graduate students and several postdoctoral trainees. |
