Michael Ilya Bukrinsky, M.D., Ph.D., Professor and Vice Chairman, Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Tropical Medicine, and Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, The George Washington University, Washington, DC. Dr. Bukrinsky is also an Adjunct Professor of Biochemistry, Immunology & Molecular and Cell Biology at the Moscow State University in Moscow, Russia. He is a member of the Editorial Boards of Frontiers in Bioscience, Recent Patents on Anti-Infective Drug Discovery, Virology, Retrovirology, and Molecular Medicine. Dr. Bukrinsky has more than 20 years of experience in HIV/AIDS field. His research interests are in molecular mechanisms of virus-cell interactions which underlie pathogenesis of HIV disease. Dr. Bukrinsky's research findings have been published in such top-tier journals as Science, Nature, PNAS, PLoS. He is also an author of chapters on HIV biology in several books widely used by students in various disciplines.
