Center for Health and Health Care in SchoolsWho We AreThe Center for Health and Health Care in Schools (CHHCS) is a nonpartisan policy and program resource center established in 2001 to strengthen the well-being of children and youth through more effective health programming in schools. For the past decade, Center staff and consultants have worked with institutional leaders, state officials and clinical providers to strengthen school-based prevention and service programs, link school and community-based health initiatives and integrate in-school systems of care for special needs children with that of the general population. The Center is co-sponsored by the Department of Prevention and Community Health at GW's School of Public Health and Health Services and its Graduate School of Education and Human Development. Core funding comes from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Additional funding comes from the Bureau of Primary Health Care at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality the Health Foundation of South Florida, the Kellogg Foundation, and the Vision Council of America.
