Practicing Lawyers

The School of Public Health and Health Services (SPHHS) offers several options in advanced learning for practicing lawyers. SPHHS courses are offered in the late afternoon and evenings during the week, making the program suitable for practicing lawyers who may pursue a Graduate Certificate or an MPH degree.

The course of study for the Graduate Certificate consists of 18 credits in one of the focus areas. The 45 credit-hour MPH degree includes core coursework and a supervised Special Project. Upon an individual's acceptance to the MPH degree program, credits from the Graduate Certificate program may be transferred to the MPH degree program

Clusters of topically-related courses can give practicing lawyers a firm grounding in essential substantive bodies of knowledge related to core areas of health law practice, such as: health policy, health care transactions, or health systems administration and management.

Lawyers enrolled in SPHHS programs receive one-on-one academic counseling, including placement assistance.
