Peter Shin, PhD, MPH
Peter W. Shin is an Associate Research Professor.
Professor Shin has the special advantage of knowing GW from the perspectives of both a student and a faculty member. After completing his MPH here in 1993, he became a research associate at what is now the Department of Health Policy's Center for Health Services Research and Policy. Over the next decade, Dr. Shin took on progressively more responsibility as a principal investigator, obtained his doctoral degree in the Public Policy program and then earned a faculty appointment in the Department. "I am proud to have been part of the School's growth and development," he says. "As faculty, I am able to take what I learn from my professional work into the classroom, and to communicate my GWU experience to help students achieve their academic and professional goals."
Much of Dr. Shin's work focuses on society's most vulnerable members, including children, migrant farmworkers, the uninsured, and low-income families.. He is an expert in survey design, the management and analysis of data, community-based participatory research, policy analysis, and qualitative and quantitative evaluations and has provided technical assistance to federal state agencies and organizations.
