For as long as anyone can remember, Professor Ivan Guillory has wanted to build a career in sports and nutrition. A former collegiate athlete and assistant coach, his longstanding interest in the interaction of exercise training and nutrition motivated him to pursue academic training in the fields of exercise physiology, kinesiology and nutrition. His doctoral dissertation focused on the influence of antioxidants on the work capacity in exercising muscle. "I hope to show my students that studying nutrition and exercise can be fun and interesting, and hopefully inspire some of them to pursue careers in the field," he says.

Prior to his 2006 appointment as a Visiting Assistant Professor at SPHHS, Professor Guillory taught at Southeastern Louisiana University and Baton Rouge Community College.
