A stellar academic career, a long-list of publications and a substantial amount of field experience as a working physical therapist has not stopped Professor Danoff from gaining some other unusual credentials. He joined the GW faculty in 2000 after 15 years in the Department of Physical Therapy at Howard University, including two as its Interim Chair. Dr. Danoff has also been a consultant to the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the National Institutes of Health for more than two decades, presenting programs on anatomy, electrotherapy, research design and statistics and helping to develop and guide many aspects of the Department's research. Previous non-academic work has included stints as a design engineer for IBM and as a patent examiner. Not to be forgotten, however, is that Dr. Danoff has also been an instructor of self-defense, holds membership in two karate associations and has competed nine full marathons and two 24-hour relays.

Professor Danoff serves as advisor to a number of graduate students and post-doctoral fellows and is a member of several professional societies, including the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Physical Therapy Association and the American Society of Biomechanics. He was inducted into Alpha Eta, GW's Allied Health Honor Society, in 2002 and in 2003 won first-place for a paper submitted to the Medical Acupuncture Research Foundation competition.
