For the Authors

Eligibility

The lead author for all cases must be a graduate student in advanced standing (which we define as having completed a minimum of 18 credit hours in a graduate degree program) or a recent graduate (up to 12 months post graduation from graduate school). Masters-level and doctoral-level students are eligible to submit cases.

In addition to the student author, one or more practitioners who were active in the planning or implementation of the program being described should be included as co-authors. [Please note: The term "practitioners" here is meant to describe the personnel who actually planned and/or implemented the initiative being described in the case. This may include staff of – or consultants to – the organization in which the work was initiated or conducted, as well as the staff of any outside agencies hired to assist in the work (e.g., a marketing communication firm).] Lastly, one of the student's faculty mentors must be included as the final author.

The student author should take lead responsibility for preparing and drafting the case. The practitioner(s) should make available all necessary information required by the student author to compile an insightful case, should participate in planning sessions with the student author, and should review -- and if necessary help revise -- drafts of the case. The faculty mentor should provide the student with oversight and guidance in all phases of case development, and should provide the student with a critical review of all case drafts.

The student author and his or her faculty mentor must also agree to serve as a team of peer-reviewers for up to two other case studies submitted to the forthcoming edition of Cases. Their peer-reviewing responsibilities will occur between January 19 and February 20, 2008. Therefore, by submitting a case, all student and faculty authors are agreeing to review up to two cases between January 19 and February 20, 2008.

We expect that all submissions will be original work and will be written with the utmost academic integrity. We also require written permission to be obtained for all borrowed information, including, but not limited to, data, text, and graphics. Thus, all authors must read and sign an Authorship Form indicating that they understand Cases policies and agree to abide by them.

Submissions should not have been previously published or currently under review by other journals. Until a final publication decision has been made by the editors, case studies shall not be sent elsewhere for consideration. Case studies not selected for publication by Cases for Volume 2 may, however, be revised and resubmitted for Volume 3.
