Lorien Abroms, L.lida Thaweethai, Nalini Padmanabhan, and Todd Phillips received some media attention for their article "iPhone Apps for Smoking Cessation" which recently came out in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine. The article was highlighted in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine and included an accompanying editorial by Backinger & Auguston of NCI. The article was also made freely available for CME credits.

Awards
Doug Evans has been awarded the Army-TATRC grant. This grant is to develop and test a conceptual model for mobile health. They will conduct a randomized trial of the text4baby pre-natal health program in a military hospital setting.
Doug Evans has been awarded a WHC-DHHS grant. This project will test the effectiveness of an enhanced teen pregnancy intervention in a DC clinical setting. GW is funded through a grant from HHS as independent evaluator. The study design is a randomized trial.

Student News
Megan Jacobs has been selected from nearly thirty entrants by the SPHHS Research Committee as one of four finalists for the SPHHS Oral Presentation at this year's GWUMC Research Day. Her presentation is entitled, "Mobile Technology and the Washington, DC, School-Based STD Screening Project." Megan graduated last May with an MPH in Public Health Communication & Marketing.
