PREVENTION AND COMMUNITY HEALTH RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP AWARD

This academic year, the Department of Prevention and Community Health is offering merit-based financial assistance and support for second year MPH students working on their Culminating Experience. The Department is offering up to four $10,000 dollar Research Fellowship Awards.

The Department, its faculty, and our community-based partners offer a wide range of opportunities for students working on their Culminating Experience so that they can fully develop projects and gain more intensive training in areas such as program planning and evaluation; development of health communications and social marketing materials/programs; quantitative and qualitative analysis of data; and primary data collection to answer new and important research questions related to prevention and community health.

The Research Fellowship Awards are intended to:

  • recognize academic achievement in the Department of Prevention and Community Health;
  • recognize outstanding merit and innovation in culminating experience proposals/projects;
  • provide partial financial support to culminating experiences; and
  • enrich academic learning with a Chairs Seminar

Research fellowship awards are a package of tuition grant, travel grant, financial support for software or other research supplies and/or stipend support which will together cover a portion or all of a Fellow's costs related for their Culminating Experience.

Culminating experience projects may be within the United States or international, depending on availability and the students interest. The maximum amount of the award will be $10,000 which includes two (2) credits of tuition for culminating experience credits, as well as another two (2) credits for MPH coursework. Students will be evaluated on strong academic performance (applicants must have a GPA of 3.5 or above) and a written and approved research proposal with an advisor (following the guidelines in the CE syllabus for the Department of Prevention and Community Health).
