The Student Association Officers

President:

Tate Curti is from Chicago, Illinois. Prior to beginning his graduate studies Tate worked several years in the Pharmaceutical Industry both as a Client Service Manager in Marketing and later as a Sales Representative. Tate gained research experience as a Visiting Researcher with the Institute for Tuberculosis Research at the University of Illinois - Chicago. His current interests include strategies on how to improve the quality and efficiency of health services delivery. As President, Tate is enthusiastic about maintaining strong and sincere bonds between classmates, alumni and faculty. Tate earned a Bachelors Degree in Anthropology and American Cultural Studies from Bates College in Lewiston Maine.

Vice President:

Larry Jessup is from Detroit, Michigan. He attended Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina and graduated with a B.S. in Sports Medicine with a minor in Biology. Prior to beginning his graduate studies, Larry was employed as a Key Account Executive in Marketing by the Laboratory Corporation of America (LabCorp.) His current interests include Hospital Operations, continuous Quality Improvement, and Strategic Planning. As V.P. Larry hopes to maintain and develop relationships with other programs in the DC area and increase involvement of the GW HSML students and NCHE.

Treasurer:

Sonia Barkat is from Morgantown, WV. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in Finance from the University of Pittsburgh in 2008. She hopes to pursue a career in acute care hospital management with a focus on strategic planning and finance. Her goals as treasurer are to work with other board members to strengthen the relationship between the students and the department and to provide opportunities for the students to be actively involved.

Communications Chair:

Angela Raphael graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a concentration in Biopsychology in 2007. She is interested in acute care hospital management, quality improvement, and consulting. As Communications Chair, Angela hopes to work closely alongside with board members in strengthening participation in events outside of the classroom. She plans on using both written and oral communication to promote events happening in the HSML department as well as developing new forms of communication.

Networking Chair:

Sahar Dagra is from Virginia and graduated from Virginia Tech in May 2008 with a B.S. in Health Sciences. Sahar is interested in operations management in an acute care hospital. As Networking Chair, her goals are to strengthen the relations within the HSML department, offer networking and community service opportunities, and organize other social events.

Professional Development Chair:

Craig Rosenfeld is from Scottsdale, AZ and graduated from The University of Denver in June 2005 with a B.S.B.A in Management. Craig is interested in operations management as well as strategic planning. As professional development chair, Craig hopes to enhance alumni-student relationships, and provide a variety of networking and professional development opportunities to students.

Recruitment Chair:

Alexandra Piriz is from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She graduated from the University of Florida in 2007 with her B.A. in Anthropology and B.S. in Psychology. Alexandra hopes to pursue a career in operations management in an acute care setting focusing on strategic planning, quality improvement and community health. She hopes to further develop our relationship with the admissions office of the School of Public Health and Human Service as well as begin a more comprehensive process of recruitment and retention through our website, social opportunities and visits to neighboring universities.
