HSML Alumni and Student Associations

Alumni Association

Members of The George Washington University's Health Services Management and Leadership Alumni Association, representing more than 3,500 graduates, act as mentors and guides for students in the Department of Health Services Management and Leadership at the School of Public Health and Health Services. Alumni make regular visits to campus to lead group discussions, provide career guidance, serve as guest speakers and help students build a network of connections with health care professionals.

The student-related activities of the Alumni Association include:

  • The Student-Alumni Mentoring Program: Within the first few weeks that HSML students are on campus, they are matched one-on-one with alumni mentors, often launching enduring relationships.
  • Executive-in-Residence Program: Every month during the Fall and Spring semesters, a distinguished alumnus comes to campus for an extended period of time to discuss real-world experiences, bringing to life the theories taught in the classroom. These alumni also meet individually with students to explore their career aspirations and to talk about opportunities in the field.

Health Services Management and Leadership Student Association

The Health Services Management and Leadership Student Association functions as a professional organization, offering numerous networking and professional development opportunities. The student association regularly sponsors site visits to local health care facilities, and field trips to health care briefings on Capitol Hill. In addition, student association members attend the annual Congress of the American College of Healthcare Executives on Healthcare Management in Chicago.
