Holly Mead, PhD
Holly Mead is an Assistant Research Professor in The George Washington University's Department of Health Policy. She works as a researcher on the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation-funded program Expecting Success: Excellence in Cardiac Care, a hospital quality improvement project focusing on racial and ethnic disparities in access to health care. She conducts market assessments for the grantee hospitals involved in Expecting Success by performing hospital site visits and interviewing key stakeholders familiar with the structure and delivery of cardiovascular care for minority patients. She is also working on a project focusing on differences in management of chronic illnesses by race and ethnicity, examining data from patient surveys and focus groups. Before working on Expecting Success, Dr. Mead worked on the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Urgent Matters project as part of the team of researchers conducting community assessments surrounding the issue of overcrowding in emergency departments. Dr. Mead also worked for three years as a research fellow at the Institute for Women's Policy Research, where she conducted a number of studies examining access to health care for women and girls. Dr. Mead received her PhD in Public Policy from The George Washington University. Education:
