Academic Programs

The Department of Health Policy offers the following degrees and programs:

• Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) - Health Policy
• Master of Public Health (MPH) - Health Policy
• Master of Science (MS) - Health Policy
• Graduate Certificate in Health Policy
• Joint MPH and Graduate Certificate programs for Physician Assistant (PA); Doctor of Medicine (MD); Juris Doctor (JD) and Master of Laws (LLM) students (last two programs are on the document)
• Health Policy concentrations (for students pursuing the Master's or PhD degree in the School of Public Policy and Public Administration)
  • The Department of Health Policy at the School of Public Health and Health Services, at The George Washington University (GW) offers a Health Policy Ph.D field in conjunction with the multidisciplinary Ph.D Program in Public Policy and Administration in the Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration (the Trachtenberg School)

Three special academic programs are affiliated with the Department:

• The Geiger Gibson Program in Community Health Policy is designed to develop the next generation of community health leaders by offering education, research and training in community health practice and leadership.
• The Hirsh Health Law and Policy Program uses an interdisciplinary approach to advance understanding of how the law influences all phases of health care and public health.
• The Hirsh Program in Medicine and Health Policy, offered in collaboration with the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences, provides special educational opportunities for medical and health professions students, medical residents and health professionals.
