Global HealthWho We AreThe Department of Global Health offers innovative academic programs and research and service opportunities designed to give students the attitudes, knowledge and skills they need to improve the health and well-being of people around the world. The Department's graduate and undergraduate training promotes interdisciplinary intellectual and professional growth that responds to the changing health and disease environment of the 21st century. Faculty members are affiliated with the many international governmental and nongovernmental organizations based in Washington, DC, and students have extensive access to internships and other learning opportunities designed to expose them to national and international public health challenges. Research and Community ActivitiesThe Department's research and service work is conducted through The GW Center for Global Health. Guided by the principles of human rights and social justice, the Center collaborates with worldwide partners to generate, disseminate and apply knowledge of critical global health issues, particularly those affecting disadvantaged people, both in the United States and around the world. The mission of the GW Center for Global Health is to advance global health, primarily through research and scholarly service focused on improving the linkages among science, policy and best practice.
