GW's Health Services Management and Leadership Department is celebrating our bicentennial! As the only health services program in the nation's capital, and with 50 years of momentum behind us, we are committed to being recognized as the very best. We hope you will partner with us on this goal. Common to each of the leading programs around the US today is the active engagement of alumni who mentor students, teach courses, provide career guidance to graduates, advise faculty on industry trends and provide financial support. This kind of engagement and professional network create a sense of identity, community and pride that goes beyond what the faculty and administration alone can create. For our 50th anniversary, we invite you to: Connect. Celebrate. Invest.
Connect -- We want and need you back. The vitality of our community as alumni and health care leaders depends on connections. We hope to re-engage you with the HSML program and make that experience rewarding, professionally and personally.
Celebrate -- Join us over the next two years, as we celebrate our department's storied past and our ambitions for the future. Through oral histories, video documentation and gatherings on campus, we plan to tell the department's story to our community. The activities will culminate in a gala celebration in Fall 2012, marking the 50th Anniversary of our 1st Graduating Class of 1962.
Invest -- If GW's HSML Department is to become the industry leader in health management education, it will need support from its alumni. GW attracts exceptionally qualified applicants but has very little financial aid to offer. Unfortunately, most of the other top ranked programs offer considerably more scholarship support and as a result our top-ranked applicants often choose these programs. Our pledge to you is to build our reputation and enhance the value of your GW degree, but we will need the participation and engagement of our alumni. We hope to earn your support and build a robust base of alumni commitment to help HSML realize its vision of leadership for the next 50 years.
