Telemedicine Evaluation: A LSU HCSD & GWU collaboration

Brief Project Description

Following Hurricane Katrina, the Louisiana State University Health Care Services Division sought and received support from FEMA to expand their statewide telemedicine system of care, enabling prisoners to receive specialty care in HIV, cardiology, dermatology, and other specialties. The system is also used to reduce the transportation needs of non-HIV infected persons throughout the state, through linkage to specialty care that does not require travel. The purpose of this year-long evaluation is to characterize clinician satisfaction with the telemedicine system and assess clinical outcomes associated with the use of telemedicine.
