GW School of Public Health and Health ServicesAlumni

November 2008

SPHHS Alumni Career Services
On October 25th, the GW Alumni House sent an email outlining the career and networking resources available to GW alumni. Because we realize that your needs might be a little more specific, we wanted to take a moment to remind you of the career services and resources available to SPHHS alumni from the School.

Career Services
The Office of Student Academic and Career Development Services has the following career services available to SPHHS Alumni:

To take advantage of these, please contact Mallory Boyd or Amir Jahansir.

Jobs Database
The SPHHS Jobs Database is a centralized resource for jobs, internships, and fellowships. The database is updated daily and jobs typically stay on for only a month. It is searchable by job type, keyword and free text.

Networking and Life-long Learning Opportunities
Above all else, the faculty members, your classmates and fellow alumni are your most valued resource. We invite you to take part in the networking and life-long learning opportunities that are available to you through the school.

Build our Next Talented Class!
With the admission season coming into full swing, contribute to our School's future by volunteering to reach out to prospective and incoming students. Contact the Admissions Office to:

  • Become an Alumni Ambassador - Remember all those questions you had when you applied to SPHHS? Hearing the answers from someone who has been there, done that - AND is now a successful public health professional - is invaluable! Complete the Alumni Ambassador form and send it as an attachment to the Office of Alumni Relations.
  • Refer prospective applicants to the Admissions Office so that they can learn more about our exciting undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Volunteer to call or email accepted applicants who live or attend school in your area and have applied to your degree program.

Mix-n-Mingle with the PHAA!

Please join us as we celebrate the holiday season with friends, colleagues, and classmates at the PHAA Mix-n-Mingle. The event will take place at the M Street Lounge on Tuesday, December 9 from 6-8pm. It costs $10 for alumni, staff, faculty and friends and $5 for students and includes hors d'oeuvres and two drinks per person. Please RSVP here.

"I am honored to have the opportunity to return to Congress and continue fighting for policies that can strengthen America's economy, help America become energy independent, and make health care more affordable and more accessible for all Americans. Despite the great challenges facing our country today, I remain confident that this new Congress can enact policies that will make our nation stronger and more prosperous." Congressman Jason Altmire, MHSA '98
