Health Services Management and Leadership Alumni Association (HSMLAA)
The George Washington University Health Services Management and Leadership Alumni Association (HSMLAA) would like to welcome you to our website.
The George Washington HSMLAA has more than 3,100 graduates and is one of the largest and most successful programs in the United States. Over 1200 members of HSMLAA are also members of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). Our graduates are key healthcare leaders and represent more than 600 senior executives in hospital management, long term care administration, managed care organizations, consulting, association management, banking and finance, and other sectors of the healthcare delivery system. Our membership spans all 50 States and 19 foreign countries. The vision and mission of HSMLAA are outlined below, as well as the organization's specific objectives for 2007-2012.

Our Mission
- To promote the professional development and advancement of Health Services Management and Leadership (HSML) graduates.
- To assist in the development, implementation, support, and evaluation of the HSML graduate programs.
- To promote the recreational, social, and educational interests of HSML graduates.
- To provide a vehicle for communication and collaboration between and among alumni, students, and faculty of the HSML program.
Our Vision
- To maintain a leading health services administration program in the United States.
- To continue building and maintaining the vision of our founding fathers (Fredrick L. Gibbs and Leon I Gintzig) of being the program that educates and develops students to be the future leaders in the healthcare industry.
2007-2012 Objectives
- Working in conjunction with faculty, review current residency selection processes and make recommendations for improvement and recruit new preceptors.
- Review the current recruitment process and the alumni's role in the process and identify areas of improvement that will lead to improving the quality and number of students enrolled in the program.
- Work with the Department Chair to review current curriculum and determine if new courses are required or current courses require refreshing.
- Identify needs of the Association and department and develop a fund raising plan to satisfy these needs.
- Develop plans to increase involvement of members in Association activities.
- Continue to develop and grow the Student Alumni Mentoring Program (SAMP).
- Review Bylaws to determine if sections require updates, as well as develop a roles and responsibilities statement for each officer.
- Develop an orientation and training program for Board members
