Health Policy Track
POM III-IV Scholarly Project
All students must complete a POM III-IV Scholarly Project. Students will begin this project in their third year and will complete it during their fourth year. Track students are required to choose a project that is related to their track of study. Examples of such projects could include:
- Research project involving some aspect of health policy
- Scholarly literature review regarding a health policy issue, such as health care delivery systems, access, quality, cost-effectiveness, or equity
- A health policy analysis on a current policy issue to include a literature review
- A poster that has been accepted and presented at GWU Research Day along with its one-page abstract. No paper is required with the poster
- Other options may be available - be sure to share your idea(s) with the Office of Student Opportunities (OSO) and Dr. Fitz Mullan, Health Policy Track Director, prior to submitting your outline
The parameters for this projects are intentionally broad. Most students use this opportunity to pursue academic work related to an area of future interest, be that a specialty of medicine, their track of study, or both!
The Office of Student Opportunities and Track Directors can help provide guidance in formulating a project. Additionally, many students may want to connect with their track mentors to discuss the project or to, perhaps, continue work that may have been initiatied in the past. Please contact the Office of Student Opportunities at oso@gwumc.edu if you have any questions.
