The OSO is a resource to all students in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) providing a large database of national and international programs for summer study, electives, conferences and other educational opportunities, many of which are funded. The OSO further supports students’ interests through educational program scholarships for medical students and by helping all students select opportunities to meet their scholastic and future career goals.
Through the OSO, a program with elective tracks of study provides GW students with the option of pursuing an area of interest beyond the core curriculum. The Track Program supports students in developing a broad perspective and encourages students to pursue paths of leadership within the field through nine tracks of study: community/urban health, emergency management, environmental health, global health, health policy, integrative medicine, medical education leadership, medical humanities, and research.
