EXAM GUIDELINES

Students should take their assigned seats. If a student needs to change her/his seat, she/he must have permission from the course coordinator. No chairs should be moved by students.

All personal belongings, including backpacks and coats, should be placed in lockers, or (second choice) up against the walls within the exam room. Palm pilots, calculators (unless given specific permission), and cell phones should be turned off and stored in lockers and/or backpacks. Students need only bring to their seats within the exam room a few #2 pencils or pens as directed. Food and drink will be allowed provide they cause no disruptions to surrounding students throughout the exam (i.e. no loud wrappers, etc). Should disruptions occur, it is at the discretion of the course coordinator (or designee) to revise the food and drink policy.

Students must sign-in on the sign-in sheets as they enter the room.

Students must sign as indicated that they will abide by the Honor Code. NO exam will be graded without signatures and bubbled in name and social security number, if appropriate.

Students are not permitted to leave the exam room except for emergencies. If a student needs to leave, the course coordinator (or designee) must approve, the exam must be turned in, and only one student is permitted to leave at a time. It is assumed that students should be able to sit through an exam without leaving the room.

Each course coordinator will announce his/her policy for asking (or not asking) questions during the exam.

When a student completes his/her exam, he/she should turn it in at the front of the room. There will be no writing once a student gets up to turn in the exam.

The course coordinator will announce when ten minutes remain for the exam. At that time, all students must remain in their seats until their exam is collected.

Once it is announced that the exam period is over, all exams and answer sheets of those students still in their seats must be turned over until the exams are collected.

Note: These guidelines have been approved by a subgroup of the Honor Council students and the course coordinators 8/03
