Training
|
The following is a list of training provided by OLS.
The description to the right indicates who must take the training.

Initial Radiation Safety Training – This training is required for anyone before they can use radioactive material. An exam will be given at completion. Training is given every Tuesday at 10:00 (if this time is not possible, we can make arrangements)

Radiation Safety Refresher Training – This training is given annually to all users and Authorized users to keep them up to date on policies and safe practices. It is generally given in January or February but can be given upon request if needed.

Radiation Awareness Training – This training applies to all who are not users but who, in the course of their job, may encounter
sources of radiation. Examples of those covered
include housekeeping, campus police and some lab workers Ask your supervisor or call OLS for more information. Non-users who work in a radiation lab must get the training from their AU. The non-user awareness handout is used for the training.

Biosafety Training – This training is for anyone who works in a biological research lab, even if it is BSL1. This training satisfies the requirements of bloodborne pathogen training and lasts about 1 hour. Click here to download the powerpoint presentation in PDF. - Tues Aug 11 @ 10:00 - Ross 117
- Thurs Aug 13 @ 2:00 - Ross 117
- Bloodborne Pathogen Training – This training is for anyone except lab workers who, because of their job requirements, may come in contact with blood or other potentially infectious material. Examples of those covered are: housekeeping and EMTs. It is given the last Monday of each month at 1:00 in Ross 116a.
