This report provides an estimate of the latest AIDS and HIV statistics from around the world and statistics for individual countries in 2003 and 2005.   Number of people (in millions) living with HIV/AIDS in 2003 and 2005:   2003   2005 Total:    37.8 38.6 Adults:   35.7 36.3 Women:  17.0 17.3 Children <15:  2.1 2.3 Of the estimated 38,600,000 people living with HIV/AIDS in 2005, 63.5% (24,500,000) live in Sub-Saharan Africa.             Between 1981 and the end of 2005 the total number of AIDS deaths is estimated to be 25 million. Sub-Saharan Africa has 79% (12 million) of the orphans caused by HIV/AIDS deaths as well as 76% of the women living with HIV/AIDS.
