Resources available in the mass spectrometry laboratory

Kratos Axima plus: a research grade MALDI-TOF featuring the Curve Field Reflectron. This instrument is used for peptide mass fingerprinting and structural identification through post source decay (PSD) analysis.

Thermo-Finnigan LCQ classic: likely the most popular LC-MS system ever produced. When more structural information are needed this instrument allows a LC-MSn (i.e. a controlled fragmentation of parent ions to produce fragment that are diagnostic for structural moieties).

Besides conventional instruments, we have three MS systems (Finnigan Delta S, HP MSD and Extrell M50) each equipped with a dedicated HPLC system and a Chemical Reaction Interface Mass Spectrometry. CRIMS is an outstanding technique that allows isotope ratio and elemental analysis of any nonvolatile organic molecule.
