Core Facilities
The Office of Health Research, Compliance and Technology Transfer is responsible for the administration
and support of the health research programs at The George Washington University. The Associate
and Assistant Vice Presidents , Office of Health Research, Compliance and Technology Transfer
coordinate the administrative activities and organizations related to compliance at the University.
They are assisted by the directors of the following departments and units who deal with the various
aspects of compliance university-wide:
- Animal Research Facility
- Department of Health and Environmental Safety Management
- Office of Human Research
- Radiation Safety Office
The Office of Health Research, Compliance and Technology Transfer manages Medical Center research-related
endowment funds and prepares annual reports to foundations and other donors on the use of these
funds. Also, the Office coordinates the administration of internal research grant programs, i.e.,
Snyder Cancer program and the Faculty Research Enhancement Fund (FREF) program, in conjunction
with Medical Center committees and officials.
The Office of Health Research, Compliance and Technology Transfer is responsible for the administration
of the Annual GW Health Sciences Research Day, bringing together colleagues from The George Washington
University and Medical Center, The Institute for Genomic Research, The Holland Laboratories, the
Children's National Medical Center and the Veterans Administration Medical Center to share ideas
and research.
The Office of Health Research, Compliance and Technology Transfer plays a major role in the issues
of space usage, renovations and administration of facilities. It also provides administrative
support for The Medical Center Biostatistics Center and coordinates, in conjunction with Institute
Directors, administrative activities of Research Institutes and Care Facilities.
The Office of Health Research, Compliance and Technology Transfer works closely with the Faculty
Senate Committee on Research.
