PHAR 170 Introduction to Pharmacology and Toxicology ( 3 Credits)

The absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of drugs and toxic substances. Mechanisms of toxicity. Same as PubH170.

PHAR 190 Principles of Molecular Medicine ( 3 Credits)
Course Director: Travis O'Brien, Ph.D.
Provides an introduction to contemporary topics in molecular medicine with an emphasis on therapeutic intervention and human variability. Many of these modules are multidisciplinary in nature and the focus of the course will be able to integrate the fundamental scientific principles underlying each topic. Prerequisite: Phar 170. Taught at the Ashburn, VA Campus.

PHAR 207 Pharmacology for Health Sciences Students ( 3 or 4 Credits)

Drug disposition. Autonomic nervous system, cardiovascular and gastrointestinal drugs. Psychopharmacology. Analgesics, sedatives, anticonvulsants. Chemotherapy, toxicology, endocrinology. Prerequisite: HSci 231, 235; or equivalent.
