GrantsNet "Searchable database of over 500 funding programs, insider tips on grant applications, monthly funding news, and an alphabetical directory of funding sources." This free database is a collaborative project between AAAS and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and requires registration. It is geared towards funding opportunities for training in the biological and medical sciences. Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) Government-wide compendium of federal programs, projects, services, and activities that provide assistance or benefits to the American public. Search for grants by subject, funding agency, target or beneficiary group, etc. Community of Science Searchable database of funding resource and a directory of scientists from around the world. Provides a Directory of Corporate and Private Foundations and a Community Foundations Directory. Idealist – a project of Action Without Borders Search a database of nonprofit and community organizations in 150 countries, which you can search or browse by, home, location or mission. "In accordance with the Federal Financial Assistance Management Improvement Act of 1999 (P. L. 106-107), Federal agencies must develop plans for the electronic processing of grants by May 2001. The Act further requires agencies to adopt common forms and processes. These legislative requirements will be met by creating a government – wide portal for the administration of grants. This portal, the Federal Commons, will become a common face of the government, offering all grantees (state and local governments, universities, small businesses, etc.) full service grants processing across all functions in the grant life cycle. D.C. Department of Health http://www.dchealth.com/hp/welcome.htm The Department of Health (DOH) has been awarded approximately $85 million in grant funds to improve and protect the health of the residents of the District of Columbia. There are two sections. Grant Programs provides a brief description of each grant program administered by the Department, who manages the program and contact information. Funding Opportunities is maintained by The Department of Health as a service to the health care provider community, and will be a source of current discretionary funding opportunities available from the federal government, the Department of Health and private sources. Both are excellent extensive lists of local sources. Pew Charitable Trust You can search all grants made by the Trusts in the past three years. Searches can be done in program area (and program category), focus of grant activity, type of support, geographic focus, time frame, and enter your own search.
