Washington DC
The Community

Our community is our national capital and The George Washington University Medical Center is located in the middle of it. East of the Potomac River, North of the Mall and Lincoln Memorial, West of the Capitol and White House and South of Rock Creek Park. Many of the activities which dominate the national news take place in the a 68 square miles area that has more park land per capita than any other city in the country. The 17 museums of the Smithsonian Institution (free admission), Arlington National Cemetery, Library of Congress, the Mall monuments, the National Aquarium, the National Zoo, the C&O Canal, the Kennedy Center for the Arts, the nearby vineyards of Virginia, the Maryland waterways and countryside and the Atlantic beaches in close driving distance all enhance the quality-of-life for local residents.

There are restaurants to tempt every taste, life-style and budget.

Housing is affordable and available throughout the city and metropolitan area in neighborhoods for every taste and life style.

Our neighborhood is called Foggy Bottom. We're in the neighborhood of the Watergate Hotel complex, The Kennedy Center, The U. S. State Department, several embassies, and the World Bank. Foggy Bottom, named for its weather, was once the industrial center of the Nation's Capital.

The Metro, our underground subway system is safe, dependable and comfortable. The Foggy Bottom/ GWU Metro stop is located on the campus, across the street from the hospital.

There are 3 airports serving the area. Washington National Airport is accessible by Metro. There's shuttle service available for Baltimore-Washington International Airport and Dulles International.

The weather can be quirky. It gets cold and snowy and hot and humid; then, it's clear, warm, sunny, breezy and very enjoyable.

Yes! Washington's a great place to live and work.
