Photography
Our Photography Department offers a wide variety of high-quality photographic
services at reasonable prices. Our staff consists of three professional photographers who can capture
your special event or create custom images for your publications. Our photography services include
the following:
Medical Photography
Our photographers are on call from 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday-Friday to photograph surgical procedures
in the operating room, specimens in surgical pathology and patients in the clinic. We can
also photograph patients in our studio for documentation of various medical conditions, such
as mole mapping for dermatology patients.
Location Photography
Our staff goes on location to various special events during and after our regular business
hours. We photograph luncheons, dinner receptions, guest speakers, press conferences, symposia,
annual department group photos, campus buildings, environmental cityscapes, and stock photos
for use in promotional materials and on web sites.
Portraiture
We have walk-in hours on Tuesdays from 8-10 am and on Thursdays from 2-4 pm. During these
times, we shoot digital portraits and application photos. We also photograph headshots of
all new faculty, residents and medical students. If our walk-in hours do not fit your schedule,
you can schedule an appointment at a more convenient time.

Digital Imaging
Our high-resolution scanners and photo-quality dye-sublimation printers produce final images
that can be used for journal publications and display posters. We scan and save images for
use in PowerPoint presentations and on web sites. Final images can be emailed or burned onto
CD-ROM. We also retouch old, damaged photos.
Jobs can be emailed directly to us at photo@gwumc.edu. Please include your name, phone number,
department, method of payment, file name and job specifications.
Teaching and Publication Tools
Our department creates slides and prints for use in teaching and publications. We create
slides from PowerPoint presentations, shoot copy slides from books and journals,
produce slides and prints from x-rays and radiographs, and print custom color prints from
prints, negatives, slides and digital files. We also offer digital photomicrography.
Film and Print Processing
For color print processing and prints from your digital
media, a film drop box is conveniently located in the 3rd floor Ross Hall Lobby.
This high-quality service is fast, convenient and affordable. Our vendor, Konica, also offers
many other services at reasonable prices, including kodachrome slide processing, color enlargements
and prints from slides.
