January 2007 ushered in the nearly all-electronic era for Himmelfarb Library journal collections. With the exception of 142 titles still available in the print browsing collection on the first floor of the Library, all other journal titles are now available exclusively in electronic format. While available nearly anytime and anyplace, electronic journals present their own unique set of challenges.

To celebrate the change to electronic journal format and to help patrons answer questions about using electronic journals, Himmelfarb Library hosted "electronic journals month" in February 2007. Lunch-time sessions covering the A,B,C's of e-journals, interlinking between articles, databases and full-text linking, and desktop content delivery were held. Attendance was high but not everyone with an interest in e-journals had a chance to come. Please feel free to contact your Himmelfarb Library Departmental Liaison listed below to schedule an "insider's guide to e-journals" session if you were unable to attend any of the programs during e-journals month. We especially look forward to working with faculty over the summer on e-journals issues as well as placing reserves, scheduling orientations, and ordering textbooks for the fall semester.
