Wireless LAN Addition

The Library has added a wireless LAN to the third floor of Himmelfarb Library. This addition will provide laptop users with access to the Internet and all web-based resources from the study carrels and rooms on the third floor. In order to use this network, patrons will need to purchase and configure a wireless network card. (The library recommends the ORiNOCO IEEE Wireless World PC Card.) Instructions on configuring and using the card will be available.

Once the hardware has been configured, patrons will need to login to the GWireless page (http://helpdesk.gwu.edu/helpdesk/gwireless/index.html) with their GWMail username and password. From this page, patrons can go directly to the GWportal, the GW University’s web page, Gelman, or the GWU Medical Center web page. An option is also available to enter specific URLs for access to other, non-GW web sites. Patrons will not have access to the resources of the BAVSC or to printers from the new wireless network.
