Spotlighting Himmelfarb Staff

Dacian Zaharia-Stremtan is the Executive Aide for Classroom Services at the AV Study Center, Himmelfarb Library. Dacian (pronounced Dah-Chee-Ahn, accent on the first syllable) comes from Romania, where he studied Electromechanical Engineering for several years. He is married to one of our Third Year Medical Students, Sarah Reece-Stremtan.

Dacian came to Himmelfarb from a non-profit insurance organization, where he worked as Office Assistant. He is taking classes in Mathematics here at GW and hopes one day to become a Math teacher. His hobbies include reading, music, cooking, and chess.

Kathe Obrig, the new Serials Librarian, began work at Himmelfarb in late September and is a new resident in the Washington DC area. Kathe holds a Master’s Degree in Library Science and prior to coming to GWU, has been involved in a number of different library areas.

Most recently, Kathe worked as a Clinical Information Scientist at GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals in the Philadelphia area, focusing in clinical and pharmaceutical information resources. Earlier experiences include work in different types of library settings—a public library, an academic library, a hospital library, a business library and in the research library at another pharmaceutical company. Please feel free to contact Kathe with any questions or recommendations relating to Himmelfarb Library’s journals.
