The Wertlieb Ceremony
On November 13, 2001, in the presence of the Board of Trustees
of the Wertlieb Media Resource Center (WMRC), distinguished
guests and family, Harvey Wertlieb officiated at the ribbon
cutting ceremony of the WMRC. A reception followed in the
Library's Levine Lounge where in their remarks both Richard
E. Southby, Dean of The School of Public Health and Health
Sciences and Shelley A. Bader, Vice President for Educational
Resources thanked the Wertlieb family and friends who have
endowed the center and stressed its importance in providing
timely educational resources to the students, faculty and
area professionals in the increasingly important field of
long-term care.
This center honors Harvey Wertlieb, an undergraduate and
graduate alumnus of The George Washington University (GW),
and a distinguished long-term care administrator. It was made
possible through the generous donations of the Wertlieb family
and friends, many of whom are also GW alumni.
The installation of the WRMC within Himmelfarb Library affords
both institutions a greatly expanded collection of resources
in gerontology and long-term care to our students, faculty
and to area professionals in health services and policy, public
health medicine and other healthcare fields.
