Savvy Searcher - New Search Interface for CINAHL and SPORTDiscus
Beginning in late July, both the CINAHL and SPORTDiscus databases became available through the new EBSCOhost 2.0 interface. The new interface permits flexible advanced searching and a new 'Visual Search' option.
The CINAHL and SPORTDiscus' new Advanced Search interface provides a transparent interface where users can enter terms in one or more search boxes, search default fields or select specific fields to search and also locate the terms by Boolean logic (and/or/not). The new search interface also provides extensive tools for limiting search results, such as full-text, peer-reviewed, language, publication types, and age groups.
The CINAHL and SPORTDiscus' Visual Search option allows users to graphically navigate from one term to related terms in order to focus a search. The interactive visual interface allows users to see how the use of different terms affects the number of items found and also allows users to instantly view items retrieved from each path.
Searchers will find links to full-text articles in HTML and PDF format, as well as links to "Find I", to search for the full-text articles in Himmelfarb Library's extensive collection.
