Himmelfarb Library Welcomes New Staff

Paul Levett

I recently emigrated to the USA from England, and I have been working at the Himmelfarb Library as a reference librarian since March 2006. I went back to school in 2001 to study an MSc Information Management and amidst the bustle of early morning lectures and writing deadlines I remember how I was struck by how much more I was using library electronic resources compared with my undergraduate studies in the early 1990's. In my last job in London I worked for an academic library in two hospitals teaching nurses and allied health professionals to seach the medical literature, and there I learned how valuable hands-on computer practice is to people when learning how to search an unfamiliar database. During the year you may see me at the library reference desk, in 1st year PBL tutorials, or in the classroom giving instructional training. With the support of my highly skilled colleagues at the Himmelfarb Library I look forward to serving your information needs.

Cynthia Kahn

Cynthia Kahn, MILS, MPH, AHIP, is new to the reference and instruction staff of the Himmelfarb Library. She has earned Masters degrees from the University of Michigan in Information and Library Science and in Public Health (Health Management and Policy). She comes to GWU Himmelfarb Health Sciences Library after one year in Portland, Oregon where she was the reference librarian for Legacy Health System. Prior to that, Cynthia spent six years in the District at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) as Manager of the Mary H. Littlemeyer Archives and AAMC Library.
