Microscopes Going Digital

Beginning this fall, students enrolled in Anatomy and Pathology classes will no longer need to rent microscopes to view images on glass slides. Instead, the Anatomy and Pathology faculty have selected images from their collections that have been digitized using state of the art equipment. Students will be able to view the histologic and pathologic images at multiple magnifications, scroll around an image to locate interesting features, and use a focus feature to manipulate the focus for thick tissue samples. The image collections will be web-based and provide access at any hour from any computer connected to the Internet. Due to the size of the image files, viewing will be easiest using a high speed Internet connection.
