Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews

Full text of the regularly updated systematic reviews of the effects of healthcare prepared by The Cochrane Collaboration. Coverage: Current. Produced by the Cochrane Collaboration.

Cochrane Library

High-quality, independent evidence includes Cochrane reviews plus additional databases including Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials,  Cochrane Methodology Register, Health Technology Assessment Database, and the NHS Economic Evaluation Database. 

Cochrane Methodology Register (CMR)

Bibliography of more than 9,000 references to controlled trials in journal articles, book chapters, conference proceedings and reports, and other publications of methodologies used in health studies. Content constantly expanded via extensive hand-searching program and the development of a series of search strategies in MEDLINE and EMBASE.  Produced by the Cochrane group.

Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effectiveness (DARE)

A full-text database containing critical assessments and structured abstracts of systematic reviews from medical journals from around the world. It covers topics such as diagnosis, prevention, rehabilitation, screening, and treatment. Produced by the National Health Services' Center for Reviews and Dissemination (NHS CRD) at the University of York, England.

Evidence-based clinical information database with differential diagnosis, medical conditions, procedures, and patient education.  FirstConsult is updated weekly and draws heavily on the National Guideline Clearinghouse, Cochrane systematic reviews, and BMJ Clinical Evidence as information sources.

Health Technology Assessments (HTA)

Information on ongoing studies of the medical, social, ethical and economic implications of healthcare interventions.  Produced by the  NHS Centre for Reviews and Dissemination (CRD), in collaboration with Sweden's INAHTA Secretariat.

National Guideline Clearinghouse (NGC)

Evidence-based clinical practice guidelines. Structured abstracts summarize guidelines and development process. All guidelines in English, < 5 years old, and systematically developed. Full-text links when available. Produced by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).

NHS Economic Evaluation Database (NHSEED)

Provides cost-benefit analyses about healthcare interventions, with more than 6000 abstracts of quality assessed economic evaluations.   Intended to assist decision-makers by systematically identifying and describing economic evaluations, appraising their quality and highlighting their relative strengths and weaknesses. Produced by the NHS Centre for Reviews and Dissemination (CRD).
