On Friday, January 13th, workers will be installing an entry turnstile in Himmelfarb Library.

Please note:

• You will need to enter the Library through the glass double doors by the photocopier alcove. The normal entrance through Ross Hall will be blocked.
• Expect ongoing noise during the installation.

Installation of a turnstile for physical entry to Himmelfarb Library is scheduled right after the New Year. Once the installation is complete, you will only be able to enter the Library by placing your GWorld card on the reader. You will need your GWorld card for access each time you enter the Library. Please sensitize yourself to the necessity of carrying your GWorld card with you if you plan to visit Himmelfarb, or if you leave the Library to grab coffee or go to class. For those of you who only have a GW Hospital ID and have traditionally displayed that to gain entry, you will need to obtain a GWorld card from the GWorld Office, located on the ground floor of the Marvin Center.

Thank you for your help in making this change occur seamlessly.

Photocopying at Himmelfarb Library will be unavailable on Thursday, Dec. 22 during the morning and early afternoon hours while we install new machines. Our apologies for any inconvenience.

Beginning this week, The Writing Center will provide weekly office hours at the Himmelfarb Library to students in the School of Nursing , School of Public Health and Health Services and the School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

APPOINTMENT: To make an appointment at the Writing Center's Himmelfarb satellite:

1. If you've never visited the Writing Center (either in Gelman or Himmelfarb), access the Writing Center webpage, then click on the link labeled 'Schedule your appointment here'. Create an account for yourself so you're in the Writing Center's appointment system, and then call the Writing Center at 202-994-3765 and ask the receptionist to make you an appointment at the Himmelfarb satellite. After you've made your first appointment, you can make all future appointments using the online appointment system.
2. If you've visited the Writing Center in Gelman but not Himmelfarb and already have an online account, call the Writing Center at 202-994-3765 and ask the receptionist to make you an appointment at the Himmelfarb satellite. After you've made your first appointment, you can make all future appointments using the online scheduling system. Himmelfarb Library will operate on its usual 24/7 schedule throughout throughout the Labor Day weekend. Enjoy your Holiday!

Renovations to the 3rd floor restrooms at Himmelfarb Library are now almost complete, so the floor will no longer close at 10 p.m. With the reopening of the 3rd floor, the first floor 'low conversation' designation will no longer be necessary and normal status on that floor will resume. Normal operations status for both areas is effective as of Wednesday, August 24 at 8:00 p.m.

Himmelfarb Library will open and resume normal operating hours at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 24.
