GWU - ISCOPES
ISCOPES partners with community organizations and their leaders to assist in the development and delivery of health information and care. Community partner organizations and teams are located throughout the DC metropolitan area. Recognizing that healthcare is not limited to the clinical setting, ISCOPES works not only in health clinics, but also extends to settings such as homeless and transitional housing centers, residential communities for senior citizens and public schools. Populations at these sites include children; immigrants; senior citizens; homeless men, women and children; and the underinsured, uninsured, and underserved.
Students visit their partner sites periodically to interact with the community and learn firsthand how an organization’s activities affect health in our community. All sites are Metro accessible; some are within walking distance of GW. Large group events take place on GW’s campus. During the ISCOPES specified team meeting times, teams are free to use their designated meeting space in Ross Hall. However, teams may decide to meet at their community partner site instead. Teams may also decide to meet at additional times and places as needed.
