Site Description
St. Mary’s Court is a non-profit corporation that runs a senior living center for seniors 62 years of age or older or for individuals with accessibility needs. The building consists of 140 units in a nine-story high-rise apartment building located in Northwest Washington, DC. Utilities are included in the rent. The living center is sponsored by the Episcopal Diocese of Washington and is financed by the department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Federal assistance for low and moderate-income households is used and annual incomes may not exceed the limits set by HUD. Residents pay 30% of their monthly income in rent.

In addition, St. Mary’s Court is a nutrition site for the D.C. Office on Aging’s citywide lunch program that provides meals for older persons. IONA Senior Services provides lunches for residents of St. Mary's Court and senior residents residing in the community, age 60 and older.  This midday program operates Monday through Friday and provides meals, speakers, exercise classes, entertainment, etc. from 10 am-2 pm.

IONA Senior Services is a non-profit social services community organization that was established in 1975 to meet the growing needs of individuals who are 60 years of age and older. IONA provides personalized professional and volunteer services and access to programs designed to meet the needs of seniors and their families. It consists of thirty-three churches and synagogues, a professional staff, and 600 volunteers.

Expectations of Team Members
The team is expected to do one big project, 3-4 health talks over the course of the year, help staff weekly blood pressure screenings (only two students per week for one hour each—the team can recruit other trained students to provide blood pressure screenings), and help weekly with the senior lunch program (again, only one or two students needed for an hour each week on a day chosen by the team).

Anticipated Project(s)
In addition to weekly blood pressure screenings, the community partners have expressed a need for the ISCOPES team to do a breast exam project again, involving speakers and a Mammovan visit with screenings.  Another potential project concerns conducting disaster planning and helping residents put together disaster kits.

Past Projects
--Mammovan visit and screenings for residents
--Health fairs
--Lunch hour health talks
--Weekly blood pressure screenings
