GWU - ISCOPES

Interdisciplinary Team Building and Collaboration

In addition to community and faculty members, ISCOPES teams are comprised of students from the health care disciplines of medicine, nursing, physical therapy, physician assistant, public health, and health services management and leadership. Each of these disciplines provides a different perspective and skill set to the team effort, making unique contributions that increase creativity. Hence, ISCOPES participants are encouraged to apply the concepts learned in their academic study to the team effort, while at the same time, to learn with and from team members about other ideas, approaches, and understandings.

The ISCOPES setting affords students an opportunity to enhance their skills and understanding of how to be an active and effective part of a professional health care team.  Moreover, it fosters organization and collaboration, encouraging students to think creatively about how to combine strengths and resources to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
