Curriculum

The ISCOPES curriculum is designed to provide a foundational framework for successfully delivering community-based health services. Included in this framework are various theories and methodologies that offer different perspectives as to how to engage in community problem-solving. Based on a particular community’s strengths and aims, it is up to the ISCOPES teams and the community with whom they are working to identify which perspective is most appropriate for framing a given context and time. 

The core components of the curriculum cluster into three main categories:

Interdisciplinary Team Building and Collaboration
            Interdisciplinary teams in health 
                        Background information on different health professions, state laws, and
                                    models of practice
            Art of effective meetings
            Team meeting format
            Example meeting agenda

 Enhancing Culturally Sensitive Practices
            Cultural Competence
            Social Justice
            Community Asset Mapping

Project Development and Management
            Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR)
            Community-Oriented Primary Care (COPC)
            Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI/PDCA Cycle)
            PRECEDE/PROCEED
