Martin C. Faga

Martin Faga is the former president, chief executive officer and a member of the MITRE Board of Trustees. He directs the company’s activities, primarily the operation of three Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs): the Department of Defense FFRDC activities focus on command, control, communications, and intelligence; the Federal Aviation Administration FFRDC on air traffic management; and the Internal Revenue Service FFRDC on tax systems modernization.

Before joining MITRE, Mr. Faga served from 1989 until 1993 as assistant secretary of the Air Force for Space. At the same time, he served as director of the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), responsible to the secretary of defense and the director of the Central Intelligence Agency for the development, acquisition and operation of all U.S. satellite reconnaissance programs.

Earlier, Mr. Faga served as a staff member of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence of the House of Representatives, where he headed the program and budget staff.

Mr. Faga received master and bachelor of science degrees in electrical engineering from Lehigh University in 1964 and 1963.
