A trusted destination for decision-makers, HSPI’s Policy & Research Forum series most recently featured Dr. Magnus Ranstorp, Research Director of the Swedish National Defense College's Center for Asymmetric Threat Studies, as he delivered a presentation summarizing measures aimed at countering violent extremism in leading practitioner states; TSA Administrator John Pistole, as he discussed plans to implement intelligence-driven, risk-based security measures; Gen. Barry McCaffrey's analysis of the narcotrafficking challenge in Mexico; an unprecedented conversation between the Hon. Tom Ridge, Former Secretary of Homeland Security, the Hon. Michael Chertoff, Former Secretary of Homeland Security, and the Hon. These events and publications helped shape thinking in the capital at a crucial time, and encouraged a greater focus on function instead of form.
